The main characteristics of commonly used small light-emitting diodes:
    ① The light-emitting diode is a one-way conducting device. Only current is allowed to flow from the positive pole to the negative pole. It only conducts and emits light when connected in the forward direction. Reverse access is blocked. Of course it doesn't glow either. This is similar to ordinary diodes. However, the tube voltage drop of light-emitting diodes is larger than that of ordinary diodes, about 2V. The power supply voltage must be greater than the tube voltage drop for light-emitting diodes to work.
    ②The brightness of the light-emitting diode is related to its operating current If. Generally, it lights up when If=1mA. As lf increases, the brightness continues to increase. But when lf≥5mA. The brightness increase is not significant. In addition, the maximum operating current of light-emitting diodes is generally 20 to 30mA. Exceeding this value will damage the light-emitting diodes. Therefore, the working current lF should be selected in the range of 5~20mA. In order to save power, lf=5mA is generally selected.
    ③The reverse breakdown voltage of light-emitting diodes is generally around 5V. During use, the light-emitting diode should not be subjected to a reverse voltage exceeding 5V. Otherwise, the LED will be damaged by breakdown.
